This page describes how Meander handles your data. It is not a substitute for legal advice.

1. Data Controller

Philip Laurell Studio ("we", "us") is the data controller responsible for your personal data in connection with the Meander app. You can reach us via the contact form at the bottom of this page.

2. What We Collect

Location data (GPS). When you choose to share your location, or type in an address manually, Meander uses that location to generate walking routes, find nearby stops, and power the Absurdity Radar. We do not collect location data unless you actively provide it.

Purchase information. If you buy premium features or send a voluntary tip ("Meandertal"), the transaction is handled entirely by Apple's or Google's official billing systems. We never see or store your card details.

No account data. Meander has no login or user accounts. There is no central database of users on our side.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

• Location data: your consent, given each time you choose to share it.
• Purchases: performance of a contract (delivering the feature/content you paid for).
• Basic security logging: our legitimate interest in keeping the service running safely.

4. How Data Is Processed and Shared

Location and route preferences are sent, only at the moment you use the relevant feature, to:

• Google Gemini API — to generate routes, swap stops, and produce Absurdity Radar content.
• Nominatim / OpenStreetMap and Photon (by Komoot) — to look up and autocomplete addresses.

These are processing partners acting on our instructions, not advertisers. We do not sell data, and we do not run advertising or tracking of any kind in the app.

5. Retention

Meander does not operate a server-side database of your data. Everything is stored locally, on your own device, using your browser's/app's local storage:

• Your quiz answers, chosen preferences, saved routes, and Absurdity Radar history are saved in local storage on your device so the app remembers them between visits.
• Your location-sharing choice (approved/declined) is also remembered locally, so you're only asked once rather than every time you open the app.
• This data stays on your device until you clear the app's storage (e.g. via your device or browser settings) or uninstall the app. We have no access to it and no copy of it.
• Raw GPS coordinates themselves are used momentarily to generate a route or radar result and are not separately stored — what's saved locally is the resulting route/text content, not a location history log.

6. Your Rights (EU/EEA users, GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request erasure of your data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — in Sweden, the Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), imy.se

Since Meander stores almost nothing server-side, most requests will simply confirm we hold no data on you beyond what's on your own device.

7. International Transfers

Google's servers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Google provides Standard Contractual Clauses and other safeguards for such transfers as part of its data processing terms.

8. Children

Meander is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect any data that passes through our systems, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision.
